Northumbrian Mountaineering Club This is the web site of the NMC a large, friendly climbing club based in the north east of England. We regularly climb on our doorstep in Northumberland where the rock is sandstone and dolerite. Nearby we have the gritstone and limestone of Yorkshire and the andesite of the Lake District. Summerhill, Hartlepool. Nature Reserve and Outdoor Sports Centre. Summerhill is a unique Country Park. Set on the western edge of Hartlepool, the 100-acre site has been transformed from low-grade farmland into a Local Nature Reserve that is also an outdoor sports centre for boulder climbing, archery, high level ropes course, orienteering and map reading, archaeological activities, team building games and more. Rock Antics Ltd Rock Antics at Newton Aycliffe is considered by many to be the North East's best indoor climbing wall. In a recent assessment by Jingo Wobbly Rock Antics has been given 'elite' status making it in the top 10 of climbing walls in the UK.
